An analysis of annual primary care physician visits will be estimated for the hospital’s service area leading to an estimate of how many full-time primary care physicians the service area can support. This analysis will be conducted by examining zip code level population gender and age break-outs.
Estimating the number of annual physician visits will be applied to these population groups. This will then generate an estimate of how many full-time physicians the medical services area can support based on usage from the primary and secondary service areas. A moving estimate is used to determine the effects of physicians entering and leaving surrounding communities.
